I’ve been meaning to visit the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular at Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI, for a few years now and finally got to it. The Spectacular, which runs from October 3 to November 3 this year, features over 5,000 jack-o-lanterns representing all parts of the country. The artistry on these pumpkins is amazing and the range of faces that can be carved into a pumpkin is apparently endless.

I don’t have many tips about seeing the jack-o-lanterns. Be patient (especially if you head there 2 days before Halloween like we did), bring a camera that can handle very low light, wear warm clothes, and enjoy the stroll.

My favorite part of the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular was the scene below: Lots of jack-o-lanterns (even in the trees overhead) and some dry ice put to a techno beat (“Don’t Laugh” by John Winx on repeat). The combined effect was pretty cool.

Get to Roger Williams Park Zoo before the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular closes on November 3, 2013. If you can’t make it, you can see my full photo set here.
