This semester, I’m enrolled in an “Understanding Digital Photography” course that is way more hands-on than my previous RISD CE classes. We’re spending a good amount of each 3-hour class working in the photo studio. For this recent project, we transformed our empty corner of the studio into a set for still life shots.
Still life (still lives?) isn’t my most favorite form of photography, but I did enjoy learning how to set up the lighting for different objects that I and other students brought in for the class. These photos were lit with at least one Calumet Travelight (with a medium reflector attached) and filtered with a nylon screen. In some shots, an additional reflector was used either to the left or the top of the objects in the frame.
