B&W challenge, Day 1: Fallen soldier memorial at Old North Church

The Old North Church Memorial Garden

There is a black and white photography challenge going around Facebook and Instagram whereby a friend will tag/challenge five friends to post a b&w photos everyday for 5 days. I was tagged by a fellow photography nut a while back but, because I have been so bad a life stuff lately, I only got around to posting yesterday.

Below is my post for Day 1 of the challenge. This photo is from the The Old North Church Memorial Garden. Each dog tag represents a fallen U.S. soldier in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. We stumbled upon this fallen soldier memorial while we were playing tourists in our own city. It is a sad reminder that there are so many families who are missing their loved ones everyday.

On a related note, Adorama chose this photo as one of their Photos of the Week with the theme of light/dark. The weekly winner will receive a metal print. If you’re on Google+, you can vote for me here by giving me a +1. Thanks for the support!
