This afternoon, my husband and I made a trip to Providence to join in on a local rally in support of the Women’s March on Washington. The Providence chapter’s rally, officially called the RI Women’s Solidarity Rally, was held on the south lawn of the Rhode Island State House.

The crowd assembled at the rally was peaceful, with many families and men in the crowd in addition to the sea of women. I am generally not a political protest person – this rally was my first, actually – but issues like women’s rights, equality, and access to affordable healthcare made it too important to stay home.

It was so great to see men in the crowd, especially those who were carrying signs.

The Providence crowd was peaceful and included all ages.

Of course, there were many anti-Trump signs in the crowd. They ranged from artsy and complex to this simple statement.
